Extremely poor customer service

Bought bathmat online, did not like it so returned. refund was not processed for a month, had to call twice to ask about it. Each time agent picking up phone had passive aggressive attitude. When I finally received my refund there was a $12 difference. Yes I am cheap, and I think it is unfair that I had to call twice to have my money given back to me and that when they did it was not the full amount. I called again and was told there is a restocking fee. This is bs considering people don't charge restocking for TVs anymore. When I asked for proof, the agent said that she did not need to show me anything, and when I spoke to the supervisor I was told this shipping charge cannot be waived because its the reason was not on the company. I was later told that as a courtesy they will give a gift card and that I cannot call back and a note will be placed on my account. Simply ridiculous

Delays and Bad Customer Service

We placed a two-item order in late April, and we knew since the beginning that it would take a while to arrive at home. However, one of the items has been postponed by the company week after week. At the first time, it was supposed to be delivered in late June, but now the company informed to be delivered in sometime in August. Would West Elm be trustworthy? I don't think so. The other item is already in their warehouse in Chicago since early May, but they weren't able to split the shipment. Now, because we have a deadline, we had to cancel the delayed item, and we cannot contact customer service to have the other item be delivered. When we check order details on their website, they are still waiting for the canceled item to ship another one. If it takes longer, we will have to cancel the whole order and ask for a refund. But how long can it take? It has been the worst shopping experience in retail ever. I cannot imagine how much money West Elm loses every day having this logistic issue. Probably, they should take some lessons about logistics with Amazon.

Horrible customer service and order experience

Our couch was delayed numerous times. 5 months after order, the wrong color was shipped. We sent it back. The replacement order faced further delays. We finally received the correct couch 9 months after we ordered. Customer service was very disorganized (not the fault of the people answering the phones - the data systems are terrible). We spoke to customer service ~10 times throughout this experience. Typically, the call would end abruptly before the conversation was over, or we would get transferred to someone and have to start over. Their system also showed that the incorrect couch was delivered (even though we sent it back), which caused our replacement delivery to be delayed. Once we got the correct couch, I had to call customer service because they charged us the wrong amount for the couch, and they did not apply discounts or free shipping that were promised. We had to take detailed notes of each customer service call to make sure everything was completed. They need to get their stuff together. This was completely horrible.

Lack of communication, billing, home delivery

worst experience EVER. I purchased a dinning table, chairs and bench in March. The full amount got charged, two weeks later it got refunded back to my account and this go back &;;; forth for all items.All without any emails from west elm. Then my chair are missing hardware that two 3 weeks to replace. And NOW my table was scheduled to be delivered today, I have driver on camera! He didnt ring my door bell, leaves after 5 mins and tells dispatcher he doesnt have time to return.

Horrible experience with Manager Darla

I have been waiting on a bed frame that was supposed to be delivered 1/6-1/8. I received an email from west elm 2 days AFTER my delivery date saying the item was back ordered. The next email I received told me my items would be delivered 1/18-1/20. Again that window passed with no email from west elm telling me there was further delay. The last email I received said it will be delivered 2/2-2/4. Well its 2/4 and I still have not received my furniture or even an email telling me the item will be further delayed. I have called into west elm 3 times over the past month inquiring as to the status and each time I have been given a different answer. Today when I called for the 4th time I spoke with an associate Megan I believe her name was. She was professional and did her very best to help me but ultimately told me that I would need to wait 8 days for a call back on the status of my order. 8 days to get an update on my order? The item has been showing ready to ship for 2 weeks. I asked to speak with a manager. Fast forward an hour later and a manager named Darla got on the phone and proceeded to tell me that the order is progressing as it normally would. That was her resolution. Huge mistake having her in a management position. Megan provided far better customer service than she did. Zero stars for customer service. Clearly West elm needs to do some training regarding customer service and resolution. I furnished my entire home last year with west elm furniture. I am appalled by the lack of care and concern for your customers. It is unacceptable that I have only received updates from west elm on the status of my order AFTER my delivery date. This has happened 3 times. Its also unacceptable that after waiting to speak to a manager for an hour I was given such a rude, unprofessional response with no further information and no resolution. I never leave bad reviews but what I experienced today on the phone with customer service was something I have NEVER experienced before.

Problems getting questions answered

Through numerous emails I have tried to get samples of fabric on a chair I want to purchased, Haven Chair and 1/2, #678**** in shown fabrics of Dusty Blush performance velvet, Dusty blush Velvet ,and Aster Velvet Pink Grapefruit. I need to go to the top of management to get these I guess! Terrible customer service. This sale is my end before I get the samples. When is the sale over?? I have other items I want to order here. Please verify this chair will go through my 34" wide front door.

Unacceptable Buying Experience

I placed an order for Upholstery Fabric by the Yard, Chunky Basketweave color: Stone on October 16, 2020 with West Elm. West Elm with their poor communication and poor Customer Service kept changing the Delivery date each month. With no Email communication to advise of the change of shipment, I would go to their website to make sure the shipment dates were still valid. Each Month it was a change of Delivery. Each Month I would have to check because West Elm made no effort to contact me via Email to advise me of any status of changes. I stood firm with trying to be patient because I really wanted this Fabric and couldn't find the fabric anywhere else. I trusted that West Elm would make good on the Delivery. Now Months later the last Delivery Date I received when tracking my Order was to be made today March 1, 2021. I checked for status this morning and found that West Elm had now after (5) months of hopeful & trustful waiting decided to just Cancelled my Order, without notification (email) or explanation of course, of any kind. I called West Elm on March 1, 2020 @ 2:35pm, day of Delivery and the only explanation I received from the Customer Service Rep. was that the "item is not being sold any longer and if we had the product we would surely ship it". It took (5) months for this Company to realize that their product would not be sold any longer? It took everything I had to not come thru the phone to choke her. I would never buy, recommend or refer this Company to my worst enemy. This was the worst Company and Customer Service experience in my entire lifetime. I have never been treated by a Company in this manner ever before. Beware!!!! Beware!!!! Beware!!!! You will be taking a pretty hefty risk ordering from West Elm. Hope you never have an experience like this. If I could give West Elm a (-0) Star I would because they surely don't even deserve a (1) Star.

Argument with a manager

My wife bought a rug , on sale, about a month ago. It is shedding like crazy, I even have a baggie full of shed. I called your Westport Ct store, where we bought it. I talked to a sales person, she put me on hold so she could talk to a manager. When she came back she said they would take the rug back but only give store credit since it was a final sale item I said great Ill bring it back in a couple days since I was leaving town. When I too it back your manager, Christine told my wife there was no take backs since it was a final sale. My wife came to the car and told me the conversation. Christine called my wife a liar, since we did not have a paper receipt. How do I know you bought it here, we always send a email receipt . My wife looked in her emails and found the receipt showed it to Christine and said I guess Im not a liar after all. She flew off the handle a said get that rug out of my store. Enter me, I flew off the handle and said the rug was junk. She accused me of not wearing the correct face mask ( it is a triple thick Gaitor mask) . Is she Dr Fauci now, she did not check anyone elses mask. Is she discriminating against a 73 year old man. As I was rolling up the rug to leave I happened to look up and saw her talking to a guy, so I said do you have a problem She said are you going to hit me. Terry Hanratty cell 203-246-****. We were charged again for the same couch! So West Elm expects us to pay twice for the same lame couch. The call center can’t line up charges on our West Elm credit card with our order number.

We finally received our Drake sofa. It looks great but the legs are wobbly, even after I tightened them. Very disappointing.

I bought a chair and sofa on August 15, 2020 and didnt receive either. West Elm still cant tell me when they are going to deliver them. For the sofa the call center was confused and had no idea when I might get the sofa. West Elm kicked me over Sidelitona, which mismanages delivery. When I talked to Sidelitona and they said that they hadnt received my sofa yet and had no information about when they would get it. Ive wasted 6 hours on calls following up, and still have no commitment from West Elm on when/if Ill get the sofa I paid for. West Elm horribly disorganized and treats their customers like dirt.

For the first time I went to the Vernon Hills store 6 weeks ago. I had never been to West Elm but loved the style. I came in looking for an entire living room. I had made an appointment with Michael who was very nice when I met him. We walked the store so he could see what I liked, I gave him my floor plan, and I told him to please come up with a couple designs. 6 weeks later I never heard a word from him. He texted me once to apologize for not getting back to me yet but after that nothing. I went on to buy an entire living room from Crate & Barrel for 15,000. I was a serious buyer and he completely blew me off. I would not recommend West Elm to anyone and don't plan on ever returning. Just thought you should be aware of my first and last impression.

Purchased over $6k furniture the day after Thanksgiving. West Elm has had my money since then however I have no furniture. They continually push out my delivery date with no reasonable explanation They blame it all on the pandemic. I mean Im getting all sorts of furniture and numerous home decor items delivered on time from every other retailer so clearly West Elm is just lying and holding my money hostage.
