Bought a Halifax Leather Office Chair for $449 in November 2014. One caster fell off, for no reason, roughly a year later.

I called customer service but the lady brushed me off claiming it's been more than a year since purchase. I hired a handyman, but he didn't know how to fix it. I have been using a duck tape to glue the caster back. All I want is for West Elm to fix this chair.

For the price and the age of the chair, what happened is unacceptable.

I am fuming as I type this. When a customer managed to find this website, he/she has been fed up with West Elm but has nowhere to turn.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $449.

Preferred solution: I want West Elm to pick up the problem chair, fix it, and deliver it back to me. If that's not possible, then I want full refund..

West Elm Cons: Product quality.

Location: Los Angeles, California

I little more than years ago we purchased the exact same chair from West Elm (In Red Bank, NJ). Within a year we began finding ball bearings on the floor as well.

This continued occasionally until today when one of the wheels just fell off! For the price we paid a chair like this should last more than 2 1/2 years. We've been scouring the internet for a solution and found this site. I assumed West Elm would blow us off....and from what the two of you have stated, my assumptions are correct.

We will continue to search for a solution...but in the meantime I wanted to add our experience to the list here. For the record, we also purchased an upholstered chair from West elm and have been very pleased with it.

I'm sorry to hear about your ordeal.

This has happened to me as well. I've had the chair for less than 8 months.

I've used it as one would normally use an office chair. For the last month, I've been finding ball bearings on my office floor but couldn't tell which part of the chair they coming from.

I pieced it together yesterday after one of the 5 casters broke off.

I don't see how one could fix this independently, so I will contact West Elm as well. I will further comment as my dealings with them evolve / devolve.

They did not own up. They ridiculously offered me 30$ to purchase the same chair.
